Dy CM Sisodia holds first meeting of Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Language Academy today

kusum lata, new Delhi:  Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge -Art, Culture and Languages, Delhi, Shri Manish Sisodia presided over the first meeting of the governing body of Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Academy held in the Delhi Secretariat here on Thursday. The Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Language Academy is currently operating from  Jhandelwalan, Delhi.


Deputy CM advised the Garhwali Academy to work in the manner in which the Sanskrit Academy is working to showcase their programmes. Shri Manish Sisodia also directed the governing body to organise a Poets Symposium on regional languages on the occasion of Republic Day. “There is a need to open learning centres for the three languages- Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari. People of Uttarakhand constitute a major section of Delhi's population, and we are only providing a platform for all to experience the unique culture and languages of the state.”  He also stated that a two day Lok-Utsav should be organised in the Central Park as soon as possible.


“We are opening 25 language centres for all age groups across Delhi. The learning centres will be set up in Burari, Dwarka, Patparganj, Dilshad Garden, Mayur Vihar Phase 3, Gol Market, Lodhi Road, Palam, Rohini, Qutub Vihar, Gonda, Badarpur and Timarpur. Anybody, be it young kids or the elderly, can learn languages at these centres,” he added.


Shri Manish Sisodia also gave a go-ahead to the preparations of the Uttarayani Festival to be conducted in January next year. “Budget for the Uttarayani Festival will be sourced from the Academy,” he said.


Deputy CM also tweeted about the meeting, “Today the first meeting of the newly formed Garhwali-Kumaoni-Jaunsari Language Academy was held. There is a lot of enthusiasm among all the members, including Vice President Lyricist Heera Singh Rana ji because till now there hasn't been  any academy especially set up in the state of Uttarakhand to promote its regional languages. But this Academy has not just been started but has even become functional in Delhi.”


The governing body would also be preparing a proposal for prize distribution amongst eminent scholars and artists of Uttarakhand. Deputy CM and Minister in charge- Art, Culture and Languages, Shri Manish Sisodia also asked the team to set up programme and finance committees for the Academy. 


The governing body of the Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Language Academy comprises of 20 members including Shri Manish Sisodia as the Chairman of the committee. Award winning singer and artist Shri Hira Singh Rana has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the Academy. Principal Secretary Finance, GNCTD and Secretary (Art, Culture and Language) are holding the post of Ex. Officio Members within the governing body. Other members of the team include  Shri B.N Dhoridhiyal, Shri Diwakar Uniyal, Shri Dinesh Bisht, Shri Rajeshwar Prashad Sharma, Smt. Chandra Kala Negi, Smt. Pavitri Badola, Shri Surat Singh Rawat, Shri Padam Singh Pawar, Shri Brij Mohan Upreti, Shri Prithwi Singh, Smt. Preeti Kotnala Salian, Shri PN Sharma, Shri Jai Singh Rana, Shri Pawan Kumar Maithani, Shri Sandeep Sharma and Dr.Jeet Ram Bhatt, Secretary (Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari Academy).
